Artwork Analysis using master artists
I’ve been using this activity since my first years of teaching as a way to expose my students to a variety of “master” artists and allow them to form opinions about what they are drawn to and why!
Now that I’ve transformed my high school art room into a more TAB/Choice-Based environment, I find this activity a great option for working through “Artists find Inspiration” or Artist “Steal.” In order for student artists to find inspiration from master artists, they need to have an opportunity to view their work and form opinions. This resource helps fill that need. This lesson also meets Pennsylvania State Standards for Arts and Humanities for Grade 8 that can’t always be met with production work alone.
